Regeneration Project Update
Peter Martin reported that the
Explore Living Planning Application – although submitted
in September had only become valid on the 31st October, it is
understood that the Environmental statement is still considered
incomplete by the council. However this was expected to resolved
within a couple of weeks. Apparently the ‘clock doesn’t
start ticking until this is the case’ re comments to the
council but residents should be aware that of the tight deadlines.
Explore have invited residents
to a meeting on the 30th November. Although the Residents’
Association is not opposing the scheme per se it is still investigating
the published papers now available on the planning section on
the Brighton & Hove City council website. Examples included
the impact on health facilities such as GPs, any adverse impacts
re schooling provision in the area, changes to the ramps such
as the proposed new exit from the 3rd level and so forth.
It was noted that an organisation
called "SaveBrighton" had been formed and if individual
residents are interested in campaigning against the development
then it was suggested they contact www.savebrighton.com
or e-mail savebrighton@yahoo.com
